Prof. Dr. G. Deivanayagam is a one of a kind classical Tamil scholar whose scholarship includes a bouquet of subjects – Tamil literature, history, art forms, architecture, archaeology, epigraphy, iconography, conservation of monuments – with a host of other skills. He has incessantly worked and spread knowledge of Tamil heritage and culture and is a referral point in the annals of Tamil studies. He is a poet and an eminent historian and researcher who has published more than 70 books and a few hundred papers in academic magazines and also written articles for popular press. He has guided scores of research students in their pursuit of academic degrees. He also holds fellowship in a number of premier academic and research institutes and fora around the world.
